Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, popularly known as Aisha Binani, is a prominent Nigerian politician and entrepreneur. Born on August 11, 1971, she holds a Higher National Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, and furthered her education with a certificate in Rural Radio Systems from the University of Southampton, UK, and a postgraduate diploma in Business Management from Nasarawa State University.
Binani’s political career began with her election to the House of Representatives, representing Yola North/Yola South/Girei Federal Constituency from 2011 to 2015. She then made history by becoming the only female senator from Northern Nigeria in the 9th National Assembly, representing Adamawa Central from 2019 to 2023.
During her time in the Senate, she chaired the Senate Committee on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In 2023, she made a historic bid for the governorship of Adamawa State under the All Progressives Congress (APC), becoming the first major female gubernatorial candidate in the state, a feat that garnered significant national attention.
She was also appointed Gimbiyar Adamawa by the Adamawa Emirate Council in 2020.
