Former Osun Speaker Timothy Owoeye declared APC’s 2026 governorship ticket isn’t for sale, alleging Governor Adeleke fears losing and is discreetly seeking to join the APC
Ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial poll in Osun State, former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Honourable Timothy Owoeye, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, declared emphatically that the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is not for sale. His strong statement comes amidst heightened political jostling in the state.

Speaking during a press conference organised by the Osun State chapter of the APC in Osogbo, Owoeye alleged that the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke was being haunted by “the fear of the unknown” over the imminent loss of the August 8, 2026, governorship poll.
He claimed this development has informed Governor Adeleke’s discreet moves to decamp to the APC.
“I’m saying this categorically that the APC ticket is not for sale. As a matter of fact, as of today, we don’t see Adeleke as a member or part of the APC as a party.
Let me be sincere with you, the APC in Osun is the party to beat,” Owoeye asserted.
He continued, “I want to tell you that if not because of the fear of the unknown that is disturbing the Adeleke family and the PDP, they wouldn’t have been showing the intention of coming to the APC.
We have been saying this times without number that APC in Osun, if not because of the brigandage that followed the 2022 election and that of 2023, we shouldn’t have had PDP as elected officials across the state.”
Owoeye expressed confidence in the APC’s prospects for the upcoming election. “Now that the Adeleke family has seen that their tenure is already terminated, come August 08, 2026, we are driving away the PDP from the Osun government, and we want to appeal to our people to remain calm.
There is no space for PDP or Adeleke in the APC,” he declared, likening Adeleke’s situation to a “biblical harlot” in a veiled critique.
Commenting on the ongoing issue of the withholding of monthly allocation of local government councils, Owoeye offered a cryptic but confident outlook. “Let’s wait and see.
I want to tell you that the APC has the government at the local level, and he who pays the piper dictates the tune.
In as much as the APC has the power at the local level, definitely they should be given the money. Let’s wait and see what will happen in the next few days.”
He further clarified the APC’s stance on the allocations: “Osun local government allocations are not withheld; it is undergoing processes, and for someone to say it is being withheld, they are being economical with the truth.
They are not telling the truth to the public. That is why they are not joining the CBN in the suit. They know the truth will come out if they joined the CBN in the suit.”
