Governor Monday Okpebholo announces that Edo Line will resume full operations on 27 June, promising improved transport for commuters and infrastructure upgrades
Edo Line resumes operations June 27, Governor Monday Okpebholo has confirmed, marking a major boost to public transportation across the state.

The governor made the announcement on Monday during an inspection tour of key infrastructure projects in Edo South Senatorial District.
Governor Okpebholo personally visited the New Edo Line station, where he expressed satisfaction with preparations ahead of the transport company’s relaunch.
“I have just come to look at the work that is going on here, in the New Edo Line station. The vehicles are ready. Everything is set.
We are trying to see how we can commence. The idea is to come and look at the level of preparation of our commencement,” he said.
The Managing Director of the Edo State Transport Authority, Oligbe Henshaw, confirmed that the terminal would be fully operational by 27 June.
“This is the state terminal for the New Edo Line Nigeria Ltd. And by the special grace of God, on the 27th of June this year, we shall be commencing operations properly,”Henshaw said.
He further assured that final touches including internal partitioning, CCTV installation, and the setup of a central control room would be completed by next Friday.
Beyond public transport, Governor Okpebholo’s tour included inspection of strategic road projects.
At Sapele Road, a vital federal route connecting Edo and Delta States, he urged the contractor to accelerate work to ease traffic challenges.
The CEO of CBC Group, Li Ou Fu, assured that the construction team would deliver the key section of Sapele Road within two weeks, meeting the governor’s request for urgency.
Other sites visited during the inspection included Temboga Road and Palace Road, underscoring the administration’s broader agenda to upgrade the state’s road infrastructure.
The relaunch of Edo Line is expected to significantly enhance both inter-city and intra-city mobility, offering affordable, safe, and reliable transport for residents.
