Owoeye assures APC will manage the 2026 Osun governorship ticket struggle peacefully, backing Oyebamiji’s grassroots campaign without internal crisis

APC governorship ticket struggle ahead of the 2026 Osun State election will be handled peacefully, according to former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Timothy Owoeye.

He dismissed fears of internal conflict within the All Progressives Congress, insisting the party is capable of managing any tension that may arise.

Speaking on Tuesday in Osogbo at the launch of the AMBO Youth Assembly, a support group for the governorship ambition of Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, Owoeye expressed confidence that all aspirants will respect the outcome of the party primary scheduled before the December 15 deadline.

Owoeye, a senior APC figure, stated that the party’s leadership and elders are already preparing to ensure unity throughout the selection process.

He emphasised the importance of party discipline, pointing out that only one candidate will emerge from the contest and others should be willing to rally behind that person.

“Everyone contesting is preparing for the party primaries. There is no doubt that it is one of the prerequisites for any aspirant to become a candidate,” Owoeye said.

He added, “As a party man myself, I believe party primaries need not cause rancour among the aspirants.

When more than one person is contesting, one must be chosen. Others will have to support the person. If there is any disagreement, the party leaders will know how to settle it.”

Owoeye also highlighted the growing grassroots support for Oyebamiji. He pointed to various campaign bodies such as the Ambo Women Assembly, Ambo Stakeholders, and now the Ambo Youth Assembly as evidence of Oyebamiji’s rising influence across Osun’s wards.

“Looking at the structure, Bola Oyebamiji remains the aspirant to beat. The way we are organising the campaign shows clearly he is poised to take over Osun in 2026. There is no controversy,” he said.

With unity talks ongoing and support swelling for Oyebamiji, the APC appears set on ensuring a smooth transition into its next governorship campaign, despite the competitive nature of the race.
