Boss Mustapha is a distinguished Nigerian lawyer, politician, and administrator. Born in 1956 in Adamawa State, he holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1980.
His career spans legal practice, business, and extensive public service.
Mustapha’s political journey began in the 1980s, serving in the Constituent Assembly that drafted the Third Republic’s constitution. He held various party leadership roles, including State Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in defunct Gongola State.
He was a key figure in the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC), serving as the Deputy National Chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) before its merger.
His most prominent role was as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) from 2017 to 2023 under President Muhammadu Buhari.
In this capacity, he served as the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, leading Nigeria’s response to the pandemic. Known for his calm demeanor and organizational skills, Boss Mustapha is regarded as a thorough and diligent administrator with a deep understanding of governance.
