During Eid-el-Kabir 2025, South-East governors urged Nigerians to uphold unity, sacrifice, and tolerance, stressing religious harmony and inclusiveness

Eid-el-Kabir 2025 was celebrated across Nigeria on Friday, with special emphasis on unity and inclusiveness from governors in South-East Nigeria—a region largely populated by Christians.

In goodwill messages shared during the festivities, the governors stressed the need for religious harmony, peaceful coexistence, and shared values that transcend faith boundaries.

Their messages followed widespread participation by Muslims in Eid prayers and celebrations across the South-East.

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State highlighted the festival’s spiritual significance and urged Muslims to uphold peace and justice.

“We must tenaciously uphold and continually pursue causes that engender peace, unity and security,” he said, through his media aide Ferdinand Ekeoma.

Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State praised the Muslim community’s socio-economic contributions to the state and said the virtues of sacrifice and devotion were universally relevant.

“The celebration reminds us of sacrifice, devotion, and submission to divine will that speak to our common humanity,” Soludo said.

He lauded the peaceful coexistence in Anambra, describing it as a model of tolerance and unity.

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State used his Facebook platform to urge residents to show love and empathy during the holy season.

“As we mark this solemn celebration, I urge us to reflect on its lessons and extend love and support to those around us,” he said.

Mbah also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to policies that promote religious inclusion and opportunity for all.

In Imo State, Governor Hope Uzodinma encouraged Muslims to use the celebration to spread the values of sacrifice and compassion.

“Your devotion to the values of Islam has strengthened the moral fabric of our society,” Uzodinma said, urging Muslims to pray for national unity.

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, in a message delivered by his spokesperson Monday Uzor, emphasised obedience to Allah’s will and devotion to peace and unity.

“Our administration remains committed to building a secure Ebonyi where people of all faiths live without fear,” he said.

He encouraged Muslims across the country to uphold tolerance and mutual respect for national progress.

As Eid-el-Kabir 2025 unfolded nationwide, South-East governors used the occasion to strengthen the call for a united Nigeria rooted in peace, shared values, and religious inclusiveness.
